Gragh. I forgot that NPR is doing the Mitt Romney and the Mormon Church this morning.

Blee. Already I need to change the channel.*

Also debating leaving one of the LJ communities I have been reading. I am seriously tired of the bullshit I've been reading under the flag of... well. Apparently, according to these people, I am not a feminist. It is far too early in the morning to be getting angry about this stuff. -.-

* I am an ex Mormon. I was raised in the faith. I respect that other ex Mormons have very negative feelings about the church. I'm not really sure how I feel myself. This is not an invitation for Mormon bashing; I'm very uncomfortable discussing it. Please respect that.

Thank you. <3

The trend of 'hey, people are different and have different opinions, but... I AM RIGHT, THEY ARE WRONG, I WILL RIP THEM APART TO PROVE HOW RIGHT I AM' just... really really makes me angry. Differences are what makes interactions interesting, makes discussions fascinating, and in my opinion, make life worth living. The lack of basic respect for each other as human beings just.. makes me weep for humanity. -.-

(and I'm annoyed at the Mitt thing because they are Getting Things Wrong, and it bothers me hearing the faith of my parents described like some weird exotic bug or cult that these dry reporters want to sensationalize. -.- )

Growing up in Maryland, I was always impressed and amazed when we'd drive around the Washington beltway and the big Mormon cathedral would come into sight over the trees. It was like some friggin awesome huge starship, plunked down in the DC suburbs.

Heh.. They are all elaborate. I always thought the one in Salt Lake is on par with the Washington Cathedral, perhaps even Notre Dame (I haven't been to Notre Dame yet, so... yeah.)

My favorite part was graffiti that was spray-painted on a bridge on I-95 as the Mormon cathedral came into view behind it: "SURRENDER DOROTHY!" (and now that I look I am tickled to see that it is enshrined in Wikipedia.)

Our new roommate is recovering mormon (much like I'm a recovered catholic) and she's much the same as you in regards to the church, she doesn't hate it like so many ex mormons do and you won't generally find her bashing it either. Currently she's trying to find herself and based on her upbringing, it's not as simple as one may think.

Actually most of the ex mormons I know are all 'bah whatever' about the mormon faith. They don't hate it, they just don't agree with it.

Yeah. I don't hate it, it's just not the path I want to follow in my life; like all faiths, it has its good points and bad points.

It bothers me though when people that know NOTHING about the faith other than what they've heard through popular media or rumors start running their mouths or talking smack or speculating. Hi, I don't go up to Catholics and make disrespectful remarks about the eucharist, show me the same courtesy! (I'm actually most angry at someone that isn't reading this entry, I realize. I think I'm just angry in general this morning.)

Also. MISS YOU!!!!! <3

I think that can be arranged. Paul and I are still trying to work out what we are doing for New years, or where we will be. *hug*

Will do! Also, funfact! The person in your icon is in Boston this week to participate in the lighting of the tree ceremony.

Also, one of my coworkers used to babysit his sisters. >.>

That's funny considering I think he lives in Cali now.

My best friend's aunt used to babysit for Michael Jordan's kids. :)

You know, it's totally bizarre that the guild I did Rift with, and am going to so SWTOR with, is named Ohana.

I have been in that uncomfortable place. So. Many. Times.

I'm sorry.

Changing the channel was a wise choice. *saluting you*

I decided it was a good time to investigate Spotify's Cyndi Lauper collection. :)

I had not realized until this morning just how big a hotbutton religion is for me, as I'm generally a pretty secular person. -.-

Would cheery Christmas music help?

I'm kind of glad I missed the NPR thing... I listen to Morning Edition when I'm waking up, but didn't hear anything about Mitt or the church today, and that's okay. Most media coverage of the whole thing is either ill-informed or VERY biased. Doesn't matter which side (liberal or conservative) they're coming from.

I just found the 'Classical Christmas' channel on pandora. I am good. :D

(also if you get two replies, LJ is being weird for me today)
